As you can imagine I'm anxious to get back into my jeans after having a baby. I've been anticipating this for 9 months, so I've been keeping my eyes and ears open in order to have my arsenal ready when the time came. The time is NOW and whereas I'm not running three miles today...I'm to sore from working out to walk up my stairs....I still wanted to share a few of my new "health and fitness favorites" with you. Maybe they will motivate you to get in shape for spring as well!
Half the battle for me is feeling comfortable in what i'm wearing when I head out on a run or to the gym. Since I'm still nursing, I wanted a good sports bra, so when I saw this sports bra in a bright fun colors I was in love.
It has just the right amount of padding and support to be perfect, not to mention the cute design. Loving it!
I learned about the fitbit from my brother Cougar. It's simply a really cool pedometer, but I'm loving it. I ordered it in pink and have it attached to me at all times. I track how many steps I take each day, and am motivated to take more steps with every new day. Park a little further away in the parking lot, use the stairs, and stay busy around the house. You'd be surprised how many steps I take, miles actually while doing house work at home. It's such a simple, yet cool way to motivate yourself to be active every day! I'm thinking about ordering a few for the family this summer and having competitions between the kids to see who walks the most each day.....wouldn't that be fun?
Chai Seeds.
Chia Seeds are GOOD STUFF. Once again I was enlightened by a family member. My sister Chanda is a nutrition advocate, always sharing with me great ways to get good stuff in my body. She started mentioning Chia Seeds a few months back, but it took me a minute to catch on. Chai seeds are high in fiber, the richest known vegtable source of Omega-3 fatty acids, has 3X the antioxidants of blueberries, more calcium than milk, and more iron than spinach. I've been putting them in my green smoothies, they're great mixed in oatmeal, a good topping for any salad and can be baked right into bread and rolls. They're a great source of energy and optimal healthy before or after any workout.
This is a company and blog I've followed for a little over two years now. It's sheer awesomeness in terms of inspiration and healthy information. Not to mention they design killer workout clothes. There apparel is not cheap, hence I've never ordered anything....yet. but check out their MOVE, NOURISH, BELIEVE blog and be inspired. It's full of healthy eating tips, inspirational quotes and amazing images. When I read their blog I'm positive I'll be back in my jeans in no time:)
My goal for next friday...actually run 3.1 miles instead of talk about it......anyone want to join me?
Darci

I am so happy you are doing this again.
