I've been feeling the need to make a comeback! Today was the first day of school in our neck of the woods, so I figured I'd start a new on the blog as well. We wrapped up a fun summer yesterday, one I hope to re-visit here on the blog, and moved swiftly into school mode. The first day of school is the equivilant of a holiday in my mind. It's full of antisipation, excitement, new clothes and me holding the camera.
This year was no different. We kicked of the new year last night with a "back to school" dinner & family night. The older kids recieved hand written letters from mom and a Fathers blessings from dad. It actually ended up being a pretty cool evening at the Dowdle's.
Then off to bed....and back up bright & early!
Ty is happy to be starting the Fourth Grade, you just won't know it because he hasn't smiled for the camera since he finished the second grade....
and Brooklyn is a little nervous to be going ALL DAY LONG as a first grader!
It's nice to send them off together knowing they'll look out for each other......
at least that's what I assumed until this afternoon when Ty got off the bus without his little sister??? When questioned he said, " I don't know what happened, I was trying to get the back seat on the bus."
No worries. She showed up only minutes later with a neighbor, and we had a nice chat about waiting for your sister over homemade granola bars and milk.
Happy first day to you,
It's nice to be back!

So glad you're back!

Great to hear from you. Happy first day of school. We don't start until after Labor day. I thought like you did that the oldest would look after the little ones which they didn't and we had the same talk you did. Funny how that happens.
Happy days ahead.
