It was a GOOD summer. I spent time looking back over the FEW pictures I took this summer and teared up because life is good, and time REALLY DOES fly. My one regret.... I wish I was better at living in the moment or appreciating the PRESENT without wishing anything away. That being said, here are a few highlights (for my own documentation) of what happened during the summer of 2012!
We kicked off the first week of summer by driving Ty down to BYU each morning at 7:30am for Soccer Camp.
The day after soccer camp ended we headed back to Provo bright and early to watch Kevin finish the Utah Valley Marathon!
The kids were hyper with excitment to wave their signs and ring the cow bells at the first sight of him. He finished in 31/2 hours. He's amazing. It was his first marathon- I can only dream:)
That same afternoon we got in the car and headed for California to visit grandma and grandpa at the beach, and all our Dowdle Cousins!
This is the ONLY picture I have of the entire week long trip. I could cry. Why on earth I didn't get my phone out to snap more pictures I do not Know? We LOVE these cousins and always have the best time when we're together. We spent a day at Disneyland (tram ride above) went hiking, enjoyed frozen yogurt in the town square, BBQ's and swimming in grandpa's pool, and a couple great days at the beach. A trip to California is the perfect way to kick off the summer. We had a blast!!!
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that somewhere in that first week our oldest cousin Clark Julian left on a mission. It was a treat to pick him up at the airport and take him to the MTC in Provo. The kids ADORE their oldest cousin...it was a special goodbye.
Then we had a few weeks of just plain old summer. Ty attended another BYU Sports camp, the kids played with neighbors, swam, set up the slip & Slid, went hiking, and we celebrated the 4th of July in all it's "granduer and glory" in our new neighborhood.
The started the day by riding our decorated bikes in the annual neighborhood parade...
which was followed by a neighborhood breakfast. I was really fun! It was also cool to have Kevin's Brother Steven and his wife Melissa and family come spend a few days with us after the 4th- do I have any pictures? No..but I still want to remember that they came and it was awesome:)
Then we simply spent more time playing with friends, drinking smoothies for breakfast...
Ty had a few dog sitting jobs... (which he loved)
Last but not least we wrapped up the summer with a trip to Seattle to visit grandma and grandpa on the lake.
We rode bikes, went hiking, took a ferry boat ride, gathered rocks on the beach, ate fresh berries and Pie and watched great movies like The Music Man and Fly Away Home. In addition to all that we spent every free minute jumping off the dock and hanging out at the lake... which happens to be the perfect activity and place to enjoy the sun set on a wonderful summer.
I regret not taking more pictures, but am grateful for a heart that's full of summer memories.
Darci

Love, love, love it! And love you guys, too! (so sad we're no longer on a cousin route)
